The hydraulic motor is an executive component of a hydraulic system, which converts hydraulic pressure energy supplied by the hydraulic pump into mechanical energy (torque and rotational speed) at its output shaft. Hydraulic fluid acts as the medium for transmitting force and motion.

Hydraulic motors, also referred to as oil motors, are widely applied in injection molding machines, marine vessels, hoists, construction machinery, coal mining equipment, mining machinery, metallurgical machinery, ship‑borne machinery, petrochemical equipment, port machinery and other fields.
According to structural types, hydraulic motors can be classified into gear‑type, vane‑type, piston‑type and orbit‑type motors.
An orbit motor consists of a stator and a rotor assembly. The stator, rotor and drive shaft separate the motor into two working chambers, each equipped with an oil port. When pressurized oil enters one port, oil is discharged from the other, driving the rotor to rotate.
Orbit motors feature compact size, light weight, favorable self‑priming performance and easy maintenance.
However, they also have drawbacks including high pressure and flow pulsation, low volumetric efficiency, limited input pressure and relatively low output torque. For this reason, orbit hydraulic motors are suitable only for medium‑low speed and low‑torque working conditions.
